Chiles Clayton Akers, 82, loving husband of Ilene Hamm Akers passed away October 28.

He was born in Floyd County, on Oct. 18, 1925. His parents were the late George and Pearl Hamm Akers.
Mr. Akers was retired from CSX Railroad and a retired concrete finisher. He was also a US Army veteran and served in World War II.

Mr. Akers is survived by two sons, Clayton Akers of Toledo, Ohio, and Donald Akers, of Flatwoods; and five daughters, Shirley Kerns of Worthington, Wanda Akers of Mount Sterling, Sandy Brown of Worthington, Patty Bailey of Turners Station, and Theresa Rice of Flemingsburg. He is also survived by one brother, six sisters, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Akers was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and one sister. Services were Tuesday at the Fox Valley Community Church with Rev. Darrell Marshall and Rev. Lenny Wheeler officiating.

Burial followed in the Newman Cemetary with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post and V.F.W. Post of Flemingsburg.
