Mabel E. Penrod, 96, died Saturday in Colonial Oaks Health Care. She married Everett H. Penrod on August 23, 1928. He preceded her death. Mabel was a life-long member of First Assembly of God Church and was active in the volunteer Sunday School class. She was in charge of collecting food for funeral dinners for many years. She lived on East 31st Street until moving to Norman Manor in the mid-1980's. Survivors include: two children, Don E. (Margaret) Penrod, Nila R. (Jerry) Whitton; grandchildren, Christopher (Mickey) Penrod, Laura L Penrod, Eric W. Whitton, Travis M (Jane) Whitton; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Penrod, Jensen and Maysie Whitton, Dante and Anelese Whitton, James Lautzenheiser; and three step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Nora (Gray) Ham; husband, Everett H. Penrod; brother, Ralph Ham; sister-in-law, Beatrice (Bee) Ham. Services were held in First Assembly of God, Marion, with Rev. Ben Watkins officiating. Burial was in the Estates of Serenity. Chronicle-Tribune (Marion, IN) - Tuesday, April 4, 2006
