BETTY JEAN HAM A memorial service for Betty Jean Ham, 80, of Cleveland, Okla., will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sunnybrook Christian Church, Stillwater. Revs. Paul Anderson and Mike Kelly will officiate. The cremains will be interred in Lyon Valley Cemetery, Hennessey. Arrangements are by Chapman-Black Funeral Home Inc., Cleveland. She was born March 31, 1925, in Marshall to Joseph Martin and Lillie Ruby Schulz Brown and died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Broken Arrow. She grew up southwest of Douglas and graduated from Pioneer High School in 1943, where she was active in basketball and softball. She married Jimmie T. Ham in 1944. They made their home in Stillwater. While in Stillwater, she began working in the medical field. She attended classes and earned her surgical technician and nursing aide certification in the 1950s. She worked at Stillwater Medical Center, and later took a nursing position with Dr. Rippy for nearly 20 years. She then went to work for Judith Karmen Hospice. In 1998, she retired from nursing and later moved to Cleveland. Surviving are her children, Sandra Sima of Cleveland, Mavis King of Broken Arrow, Linda Winter of Sapulpa; two sisters, Maxine Sadler of Perry, Elizabeth Baker of Waukomis; one brother, Herbert Brown of Glencoe; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. _____________________________________________________
