Jerry (Cherokee) Hickerson, age 72, of Mary's Avenue, Flemingsburg, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015, at his home.

He was born January 11, 1942, in Fleming County, a son of the late Clyde and Gene Helphenstine Hickerson.

Cherokee was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Stacy Hickerson, who passed away December 29, 2003.

He is survived by three sons, Robert Lewis Hickerson and Teddy Wayne Hickerson, both of Colfax and Scottie Lee Hickerson of Flemingsburg; one daughter, Tammie Gene Black and husband Jeff of Tilton; and six grandchildren, Felecia and Trisha Hickerson, Brandon Black, Tommy Shaffer, Rebecca and David Black.

Cherokee was a farmer and a blacksmith.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Randy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Visitation is 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015, at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
