Emma Grace Hyatt Markwell, age 84, of Grayson, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the Carter County Nursing Home in Grayson, Kentucky.

Born September 12, 1924, in Russell, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Troy and Ella Cooper Hyatt. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Earl Gene Williams and Robert Markwell, and a granddaughter, Stefanie Williams.

Survivors include four daughters, Connie Porter of Morehead, Kentucky, Gaile Owens of Ashland, Kentucky, Janet Hollenbach of North Beach, Maryland, and Rephunzel Bowling of Manassas, Virginia; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, George Hyatt and Loren Hyatt, both of Morehead, Kentucky, and two sisters, Christine Butler of Morehead, Kentucky, and Renie Cassidy of Perrysburg, Ohio.

Mrs. Markwell was a homemaker, former employee of Morehead State University, and member of Mt. Pisgah Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Stegall officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Owens, Casey Owens, Nick Craft, Stephen Craft, Ray Cooper, and Tony Hyatt.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
