William "Bill" Mineer, 72, of Flemingsburg, loving husband of 26 years to Alfreda "Freda" Pettit Mineer, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Fleming County Hospital. Born September 29, 1941 in Fleming County, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Edith May Sparks Mineer. A graduate of Morehead State University, Bill is a United States Marine, having served his country proudly. Bill was a retired accountant for Buffalo Trace Area District Development and a former Fleming County Deputy Sheriff. Bill was also a member of New Life Church of Christ where he served as an Elder and has been with the New Life Church from its very beginning. He loved his church very dearly and took great pride in being active in the church. Bill was also a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children , an organization which was very dear to his heart. An avid UK basketball and football fan, Bill patroned the Flemingsburg McDonald's SEVERAL times a day to get his coffee. He was a loving husband, father, "Papaw", and brother and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. To say it best, Bill loved everybody and was loved by everybody. Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Michael "Moochie" Mineer of Bear Creek, NC, Gina Catching (Michael) Leet of Maysville, Jennifer (Michael) Rowe of Taylor Mill, KY, and Kristie (Presley Marshall) Catching of Flemingsburg; three grandchildren, Alyssa Catching, Madyson Leet, and Hayden Leet; two sisters, Wilma Havens of Owingsville and Brenda Havens of Batavia, OH; two nephews, Tony Havens of Owingsville, and David (Patsy) Havens of River, KY; and a niece, Kathy McKee of Mason, OH. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the New Life Church of Christ. Visitation will be 5-9 pm Wednesday, November 6th at the church. Burial will be in Mt.
