Daily Review 5/22/1898 Mrs.James W. Pierson died at 2:45 oclock am Saturday, May 21 at the family residence, 801 E. Condit street. She was 54 years old. Her death was caused by paralysis. Mrs. Pierson was a prominent member of the Edward street Christian church. She united with the church of that denomination at Antioch in 1851 and transferred her membership when she moved to this city. She was an active worker in the church and took a deep interest in everything relating to religious work.She was well known in the city and held in high esteem by all. Her maiden name was Ellen C. Nicholson.She was born in Garrett county Ky,July 1845. She was a daughter of James and Elizabeth NIcholson and came with them to Illinois in 1858. She was married to James W. Pierson in Decatur on July 25, 1875. Mrs. Pierson is survived by her husband and two sons, Charles, aged 21 and Willie, aged 9. She also has one sister living, Mrs. John Lindsay of this city. The funeral will be held at 1 oclock this afternoon from the residence. Rev. Marion Stevenson will conduct the services. The interment will be at North Fork cemetery.
