Earl Thomas “Tom” Roberts, age 67, of Crain Creek Road, Wallingford,
passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at his residence.
Tom
was born December 12, 1950, in Rowan County and was the son of the late
Elbert “Bussie” and Ruby Mae Molton Roberts. Besides his parents, he
was preceded in death by an infant sister, Shirley Roberts, and his late
wife, Lois E. Rucker Roberts.
Tom was a member and on the board
of trustees at Crain Creek Christian Church. Tom was a great mechanic;
he owned and operated Roberts Garage and Towing for 40 years. He
enjoyed working, fishing, and was an avid collector of arrowhead,
knives, and guns. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and
friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Miller Roberts;
daughters, Misty Roberts of Lexington and Lorrie Henderson of Fleming
County; two grandchildren, James-Perry Henderson and Alania Henderson;
one brother, David Elbert Roberts and wife Leigh Ann of Carrollton; two
sisters, Phyllis Fannin and husband Eulas of Wallingford and Bonnie
Cooper and husband Darry of Hillsboro; several nieces and nephews; and
other relatives and many wonderful friends.
Funeral services will
be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Northcutt &
Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jack Hinton and the
Rev. Darry Cooper officiating. Tom will be laid to rest in Fairview
Cemetery at Grange City.
Pallbearers: Roger Cox, Joe Jackson,
Jeff Weaver, Jeff Harris, Darrel Hester, and Billy Weaver. Honorary
pallbearers: Elbert Cox, Billy Newsom, Paris “JR” Jackson, and John
Newman.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
