GRANT HAMM

Grant Hamm, 68, of 1726 Eighth street, died at 8:25 a.m. today at his home. He had been ill for an extended period and 10 years ago retired from his position at the Selby shoe plant 
because of ill health.<p>
Mr. Hamm was born Sept. 18, 1870, at Rome, Adams county, a son of Fielding B. and Sybil Thompson Hamm. <p>
When he was child his parents located in Rowan county, Ky., where he lived until he came to Portsmouth in 1917. During his residence in Kentucky he followed the carpenter trade and also farmed. 
He had been a shoe worker since locating in Portsmouth.<p>
On Feb. 16, 1896, he married Myrtle Hargett, who survives. He also leaves leaves two children, Miss Irma Hamm and Mrs. Beatrice Stanley at home. 
He leaves a brother, George Hamm, 1524 11th street, who is seriously ill. Four children preceded him in death.<p>
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Windel-Howland funeral home, with Rev. W.C. Burris of Central Christian church in charge. Burial will be in Memorial park cemetery. 
The body will remain at the funeral home.
