Joseph O. Hamm, 96, of Eaton, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton.
Born
Nov. 11, 1910, at Gratis, Ohio, he was the son of Oscar and Dora
(McKee) Hamm. He was a 1928 graduate of Lanier Township High School. Mr.
Hamm retired from General Motors in Dayton, Ohio, after 30 years of
service as a tool and die maker. He moved his family to Eaton from
Dayton in 1952.
From 1952 to 1975, he owned and operated the
Arcadia Bowling Lanes in Eaton. He was a past member of the Masonic
Lodge in Dayton, an elder and member of the First Presbyterian Church in
Eaton, and an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. For several years, he
and his wife wintered in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife of 69 years, Hazel B. Hamm, in 2004; brothers, Bruce,
Morris, Pat, Paul and Pearl Hamm; sisters, Ruth Lukey, Emily Curp and
Alice Baker.
Survivors include his son, Stephen B. Hamm of Yellow
Springs, Ohio; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara L. 'Barb' Weadick of
Miamisburg, Ohio, and Elizabeth 'Liz' and Donald E. Smith of Eaton; a
sister, Jenny Windle of California; grandchildren, Mark J. and Lisa
Weadick, Andrew D. and Shari Weadick, Dr. Patrick D. and Susan Weadick,
Melissa K. and Larry Burkett, and Deron E. and Angela Smith.
Also
surviving are great-grandchildren, Paul Weadick, Brenna Weadick, Ben
Smith, Jake Smith, Hannah Weadick, William Weadick, Lindsey Burkett,
Ryan Burkett, Tyler Burkett, Lauren Parker, Jenna Smith and twins Jakob
and Alivia Smith; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were
Saturday, March 24, at Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Dr.
Randall Harvey officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, West
Alexandria, Ohio.
