MAYSVILLE - Alvin Hamm, 76, of Vine Street, died at 9:22 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at his residence after a long courageous
battle with cancer. Mr. Hamm was the widower of Mayme Inez Phillips Hamm
who died Dec. 3, 2002.
Mr. Hamm had previously worked for the Betsy Ross Bakery, the
Flowers Bakery, Clover Leaf Dairy and Flower Affair by Carl and Liz. He
was loved by his family and the community who never forgot his
contagious smile. Mr. Hamm loved his family and all others. He was an
avid horseshoe player.
He was born in Rowan County, on March 26, 1927, the son of the late Basil and Missouri Blanton Hamm.
Surviving are three sons, Phillip (Rosemary) Hamm of Harlan,
Victor (Betty) Hamm of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Mike Hamm of Maysville; two
daughters, Gwynne (Tom) Clayton of Maysville and Penny Jo Hamm of West
Palm Beach, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, Sonia Jones, Tonia Jones, Joey
Jones, Christina (Robbie) Sapp, Alvin David Hamm, Ralph Morgan, Chris
Morgan, Rachel Penrod, Phillip Hamm, Tiffany Hamm, Alex Hamm, Victor
Lynn Hamm, Jesse Hamm and Jeremy Hamm; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Versie Hamm of Princeton, W.Va.,
and Jimmy Hamm of Morehead; and one sister, Oval Stiddom of Morehead. He
was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lynne Hamm; two brothers,
Vestal Hamm and Carl Hamm; and three sisters, Viola McClurg, Luella
Rigdon and Louie Littleton.
Services for Alvin Hamm will be held at Knox and Brothers Funeral
Home at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, with Bro. Tommy Hamm
officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery, Morehead.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Hamm's grandsons.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
