Clinton William (Clint) Johnson, age 89, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010, at his residence.
He was born July 9, 1920, in Morehead, Kentucky, son of Ollie and Linda Hargis Johnson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters: Sylvan, Dawson, Anna, Adda, Roxie, Sam, Odell, Allie, CarrieMay, and Ray.
Clint grew up in Tolliver Addition of Morehead and attended a one-room school in Rodburn and Morehead High School. Clint worked odd jobs, one of which was drying money with a warm iron for the Citizens Bank after the flood of 1939. He was drafted in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army Air Force. From 1943-1944, he was in India with the 24th Combat Mapping Squadron. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and received his GED. He then enrolled at Morehead State University and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree. On December 18, 1948, in Lexington, Kentucky, Clint married Emma Louise Hilliard, who preceded him in death on July 3, 2006.
Clint started as an office manager for the Morehead Utility Plant Board in 1950 and served as Superintendent from 1956-1969. He then started working as a Utility Agent for the Kentucky Department of Transportation until he retired in 1985. In 1990, he started working for Bell Engineers as a Project Representative and also for the Morehead Utility Plant Board until 2004. Clint was instrumental in forming the Morehead Little League and served as a Commissioner in 1959. He was a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654 and a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working bird dogs.
Clint is survived by four sons: William Lynn Johnson and his wife Jada, Kenneth Wayne Johnson, and Louis Edward Johnson, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and Erick Ray Johnson of Chattanooga, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Tiffany Blair, Annie Hart, Brian Johnson, Erika Johnson, and Laken Johnson; and four great grandchildren, Avery and Sydney Blair and Cole and Claire Hart.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Tackett officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with full military rites by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2010 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday by Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Clint Johnson.
